Incoming first year students

日韩无码 students live in one of eight themed learning communities or four partner housing options. Learning communities bring students with similar interests together, and each community is expected to address core issues of social justice and inclusion.鈥 

As you explore each learning community, you will find information about the buildings the community occupies including gender-inclusive restroom and shower information. Each building is available by campus location with core information, including learning community, gender-inclusive restroom and showers, kitchens, etc. 

Returning students

Off-campus

Health and wellness

Body

Identity affirming mental and physical healthcare services are available from the鈥Center for Health and Wellbeing鈥痶丑谤辞耻驳丑鈥Counseling and Psychiatry Services (CAPS)鈥痑苍诲鈥Student Health Services (SHS).

For our gender diverse student population who may be seeking Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy (GAHT), please see for more information on GAHT and how to access it at SHS (requires 日韩无码 NetID).

Identity Affirming Items

Body

The Prism Center Identity Affirming Closet is a free, on-campus resource intended for 日韩无码 students who can't afford or can't safely obtain identity-affirming clothes and other supplies. The clothing closet is currently available in the C170 student lounge. To request identity affirming items such as binders and femme shape-wear, fill out the鈥(requires 日韩无码 sign in) to let us know what you need. Someone from our office will be in touch to confirm the details. Requests are accepted during the academic year. 

Alumni and supportive community members play a critical role in the success of this program that is run on donations. Your donation directly impacts students' lives;鈥痶o the Prism Center to help support this program today. 

Academics

Body

At 日韩无码, queer and trans identities, history, and current events are also an academic priority. All students can take exciting classes on related subjects, present their work, and be recognized for outstanding projects. 

In the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS),鈥Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies鈥痮ffers a major and a two minors in courses of study: a B.A. in Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies鈥痑s well as a Gender, Sexuality,and Women's Studies minor, and a 鈥Sexuality and Gender Identity Studies minor

We recognize students with exemplary coursework on these topics annually with鈥the Daniel-McCarter Award, presented annually at Rainbow Graduation. 

Meezan-Brittenback Student Emergency Fund

Body

The Prism Center operates a small fund to assist students facing emergency situations or urgent needs, particularly if the student may be at risk of leaving the University. Students should apply through the 日韩无码 Emergency Grant Program's simple online application. Awards from this fund typically range from $50-$500 and preference is given to queer and trans applicants. 

William 鈥淏ill鈥 Meezan 鈥67 (1947-2016) and his husband Mike Brittenback, have been long-time supporters of the Prism Center and LGBTQ+ students of 日韩无码.鈥 They established the Meezan-Brittenback Student Emergency Fund in order to support queer and trans students during times of financial hardship.

日韩无码 has a vibrant community of engaged LGBTQ+ faculty and staff serving our campus.鈥 Potlucks, dinners and other social gatherings typically happen once or twice per semester. LGBTQ+ faculty & staff can join an e-mail listserv to receive updates and announcements by鈥痚-mailing Prof. Val Rohy (vrohy@uvm.edu)鈥痑nd requesting to be added. 

Supporting others

All students, staff, and faculty at 日韩无码 can indicate their lived name and pronouns to the University community regardless of whether or not they have legally changed their names.鈥痶o help orient yourself to when it is appropriate to use someone's legal name vs. their lived name (as some systems at 日韩无码 do require legal names be used) see the following document:鈥Lived Name Decision Tree (PDF).

日韩无码 Connect now offers a platform for 日韩无码 alums to promote their businesses, and soon will include a mentorship matching program that allows alumni to offer mentorship services to 日韩无码 students preparing to graduate. 鈥疶here are so many ways to find community and get involved. 

The LGBTQA Affinity group also operates a鈥痺ith 250+ members. 鈥
