In partnership with the Vermont Research Open Source Program Office (VERSO), the Graduate College and the Office of the Provost, the 日韩无码 Libraries are hosting a three-day data and open science summit in January 2025. This free event open to the 日韩无码 community will include instructional support from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Software Carpentries volunteer organization and professionals from across campus. 

Statistical Design and Data Specialist at 日韩无码 Libraries Maria Sckolnick has played an important role in organizing the much-anticipated event. 鈥淚鈥檓 really looking forward to connecting with other data scientists and analysts on the broader data analysis topics,鈥 she said. 鈥淭his event will be a great opportunity to network and meet like-minded professionals in the field.鈥 

On the first day of the summit, January 7, attendees will learn from professionals at NASA and the Software Carpentries about open science鈥攁 set of principles that aim to modify access to research, promote equitable resource sharing and improve rigor and reproducibility. VERSO Program Director Kendall Fortney said, 鈥淏y bringing NASA here we hope to support 日韩无码 open science practices that accelerate discoveries and amplify research through transparent sharing of data and research software.鈥

The second day鈥檚 schedule is packed with a slew of speakers from the University Libraries, the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, the Larner College of Medicine, the College of Arts and Sciences and more. Registrants will attend workshops and presentations covering topics like data visualization, qualitative methods, metagenomics, data analysis and more. 

The summit鈥檚 last day is dedicated to the participants. On January 9, attendees will convene for an 鈥渦nconference,鈥 a half-day session that is flexible, participant-driven with an agenda shaped by the group. This is a do-not-miss event for attendees especially interested in networking with professionals in the field.
