Counseling and Psychiatry Services (CAPS)
Individual Counseling
CAPS' short-term, solutions-focused model helps students explore issues of concern or importance with a counselor in a one-on-one setting. CAPS can also help you find longer-term counseling in the greater Burlington community. CAPS offers groups and one-time sessions as well. You can also learn more about psychiatry services below.

What is a short-term, solutions focused counseling model?
The short-term, solutions focused counseling model is designed to support as many 日韩无码 students as possible by providing more opportunities for access while also addressing student counseling needs. In these sessions, counselors and students work collaboratively to address immediate challenges.
Is there a session limit? How often can I get counseling?
Counseling is typically offered every two weeks after an initial intake session. Throughout the semester, students often work with a counselor for between 3 to 6 sessions. Some students will see a counselor for more than six sessions; however, this is atypical. Also, some students will see a counselor for only 1-2 sessions and have their needs met. The amount of sessions depends on the time it takes to address the immediate challenge.
What if I want weekly therapy and a longer-term counseling connection?
CAPS is happy to meet with anyone who is hoping to connect with a counselor in the Burlington community. We can connect you with one of our case managers who help students find care in the local area.
Students access CAPS for a variety of reasons, including:
- Relationship challenges
- Exploring new or developing identities
- Feeling sad or irritable
- Body image concerns
- Adjusting to college life
- Grief and loss
- Anxiety and depression
- Recovery
- Family stress and support
- And many more topics
