About the Museum
Who we are
We are creating a museum in which everyone feels welcome and sees themselves reflected. An art museum that provides unique and outstanding teaching and learning opportunities across all majors and disciplines of study. We are using art in all its forms to expand understanding of our shared human experience, encourage dialogue, and cultivate critical thinking. We are the Fleming Museum of Art at ÈÕº«ÎÞÂë.
As a meeting place for inspired learning and critical thinking, the Museum is a place of gathering and exchange, shaped by water and stewarded by ongoing generations of Indigenous peoples. As a container for shared knowledge and resources, it is essential to acknowledge the continued existence and contributions of indigenous people who have owned, lived on, and cared for this land for thousands of years. Shared leadership with our communities is in harmony with our mission, a reminder of our past, and a beacon for our interconnected futures.
Our mission
The Fleming Museum of Art serves as a gateway for active cultural exchange and critical thinking in our communities and an essential learning resource for ÈÕº«ÎÞÂë. Through the experience of our diverse collection, dynamic exhibition schedule, and innovative educational programming, people of all ages are inspired to discover the arts and cultures of the world.
Our vision: Fleming Reimagined
At the Fleming, we aim to use art in all forms to expand our understanding of our shared human experience. By building trust, maintaining transparency, and evolving as a responsive space, Fleming Reimagined is our guide for creating a museum in which everyone sees themselves reflected and feels welcomed.
