Closing Exempt studies

The IRB is obligated to know which research protocols are active at 日韩无码, we expect researchers to close exempt protocols with the IRB once the research activities are complete. This can be done by submitting a    Researchers receive annual reminders to update the IRB on the status of the exempt research.  Reminders inform the researcher that the exempt protocol will be closed after 3 years if there has been no contact with the IRB. 

On September 6, 2024, the IRB will be closing all open exempt protocols approved prior to 2021. If you wish to continue working on an exempt study that is greater than three years old, please submit a continuing review indicating the research is active.  Alternatively, researchers can submit a modification to their research   or    This will also let the IRB know the study is still active.  If a protocol is closed by the IRB and the PI indicates after closure, it is still active, a new protocol will need to be submitted to allow the IRB to ensure the research is still exempt from the regulations.

Major objectives of the RPN are to:

 The Larner College of Medicine, in conjunction with The Office of Clinical Trials Research, requires that all research staff engaged in at LCOM and the 日韩无码 Health Network complete LCOM Research Professionals Training, Fundamentals in the Conduct of Clinical Research Training Program, including, but not limited to; Research Coordinators, Research Nurses, Research Health Care Professionals, and Regulatory Staff, or individuals fulfilling these roles.

This requirement applies to all research staff who are involved in the conduct of research involving human subjects, irrespective of funding source supporting the research activity.

 Continued Reminders regarding about the 日韩无码 Researcher Credentialing Policy (). 

This policy is a regulatory requirement to ensure that 日韩无码 research faculty and staff have the appropriate orientation, competency, and oversight when accessing 日韩无码 Health Network resources.

Please communicate with your 日韩无码 research faculty and staff, if they previously completed credentialing, that their current 日韩无码 Medical Center research ID badges expired on June 30, 2024.

The researcher credentialing process is managed through the Office of Clinical Trials Research (OCTR) via REDCap to collect the required credentialing documents. Information can be found on the  Prior to initiating patient contact (or in order to continue if currently credentialed) in a clinical research protocol, or accessing PHI, all 日韩无码 employees engaged in and responsible for clinical activities will be required to have a current credentialing record on file with the OCTR.

日韩无码 Research Faculty and Staff not currently credentialed will follow the instructions for New Credentialing Procedures for 日韩无码 Faculty and Staff.

Please email OCTR, , with the name and email address of anyone new to the credentialing process. They will then receive an email with the survey information.

日韩无码 Research Faculty and Staff who completed credentialed last year will follow the instructions for Renewal Procedures for 日韩无码 Faculty and Staff.

They should have received emails, initial communication for FY25 and regular reminders with the survey information.

Failure to comply by June 30, 2024 will result in denied 日韩无码 Medical Center IT access and 日韩无码 research staff will not be allowed to participate in 日韩无码 Medical Center research activities until they have successfully fulfilled the credentialing requirements.
