Majors: Public Communication, Community and International Development
Originally from Washington, DC, Ayden Carpenter is currently a senior at 日韩无码 (日韩无码), double majoring in Community & International Development and Public Communication. He chose these majors because he wants to make a positive impact in the world and believes that good communication between leaders, community members, and subject experts is key to achieving meaningful change.
At 日韩无码, Carpenter has been involved in leadership, research, and community building. Early on, he took advantage of some on-campus professional internships. He particularly enjoyed his work with the Center for Research on Vermont, where he was hired to be an on-camera interviewer for dozens of of a television production. Later in his college career, he helped faculty with their research. He worked with Professor Daniel Tobin and a group of BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color) growers to study the market for and with Professor Pablo Bose, studying aspects of rural refugee resettlement in Vermont. Carpenter has also interned with local organizations like United Way of Northwest Vermont and Congresswoman Becca Balint鈥檚 office, where he learned about Vermont beyond the 日韩无码 campus. Carpenter has been involved in community building on campus too. He enjoys working with the Black Student Union and was responsible for organizing one of their yearly fashion shows, a big event that brings the campus BIPOC community together. As part of the 日韩无码 cycling team, he helped bring the road race back to campus, which drew collegiate teams from all over the Northeast and Canada.
In his free time, Carpenter loves riding bikes, drinking coffee, and listening to music. One of his favorite memories in Vermont is biking up the Appalachian Gap for the first time with the Cycling Team and enjoying the reward of the incredible view at the top.
