Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to apply to study abroad through 日韩无码 you must meet the requirements below. Program providers and outside institutions may have different eligibility requirements. More stringent conduct record requirements may be imposed by travel study, 日韩无码 Semester, or exchange programs as stated in their applications.
- Be a degree-seeking student:听You must be a degree-seeking student and have been enrolled at 日韩无码 as a degree-seeking student the semester before the planned study abroad term. Continuing Education students are only eligible to study abroad on certain short-term 日韩无码 programs. Students who are on a leave of absence or otherwise are not enrolled in 日韩无码 classes the semester prior to the planned study abroad term must be granted permission by their academic dean's office and the Assistant Director of Study Abroad.
- Have sophomore standing:听You should have at least sophomore standing to apply to study abroad. Transfer students need to have completed at least one semester at 日韩无码 before applying to study abroad. Seniors may study abroad, but residency requirements state that 30 of your final 45 credits must be taken at 日韩无码 (so: if during your last three semesters you take 15 credits each semester, you can spend one of those semesters abroad).
- Meet GPA requirements:听All students must听have a minimum 日韩无码 cumulative GPA of 2.50. Additionally, many individual programs have higher GPA requirements programs' minimum GPAs are between 2.75 and 3.0.
- Be in good academic standing:听You cannot have been academically dismissed nor be on academic trial or probation at the time of application.
- Have no suspensions:听You cannot have ever been suspended, nor be on deferred suspension at the time of application.
- Complete all required steps in GoAbroad process and receive approval via OSSP Registration:听You must obtain approval to study abroad by completing the听听process (pre-decision and post-acceptance phases). Your School/College and Academic Advisor will approve you to study abroad as a part of this process. Once all steps are complete, you will be registered for a course to correspond with your study abroad program which carries fees based on the program type. If you have holds on your student account, you will be ineligible to be registered for OSSP and thus not able to study abroad.听
If you do not meet these requirements, you can request "an exception by submitting the "Academic Eligibility Exception Support" form through your college/school's Dean's office. Ensure completion before the deadline and follow all instructions on the form precisely. Once completed, submit to听studyabroad@uvm.edu.
Application Deadlines
Program application deadlines vary by program type. Students should plan well ahead of the deadlines below, which are final. Exceptions to these deadlines cannot be granted, nor can accommodations to support students with last minute applications that did not follow recommended timelines for application.
GoAbroad applications for 日韩无码 Exchange, 日韩无码 Semester, and ISEP Exchange programs must be initiated at least 10 days before the final 日韩无码 study abroad application deadline.听The application requirements for these programs include multiple requirements and steps that require advanced planning in order to be successfully completed and submitted. The OIE staff is not able to make exceptions to applications initiated in this time or extensions to the application deadline for incomplete requirements.
Some programs do fill prior to deadlines, and students are encouraged to begin steps for their application several semesters prior to the deadline for their intended time abroad. For programs with a priority deadline, we urge an application by that date as programs generally fill to capacity on that timeline. Students applying to external programs should note that听both the 日韩无码 application and the external program application must be completed on the timeframes below.听
