Amanda Royce recently accepted the newly created position of 4-H volunteer and outreach coordinator for University of Vermont (�պ�����) Extension 4-H.

In her new role, Royce will grow the reach of 4-H positive youth development initiatives and programs statewide by providing outreach to communities. She also will provide leadership for volunteer recruitment, onboarding and recognition strategies.

“I’m excited that I get to help promote the 4-H program and engage with new audiences, groups and organizations to share the impact of 4-H and the many ways that people can get involved,” she says. “I’m also eager to start implementing new strategies to recognize the dedicated 4-H volunteers that give their time, passion and expertise to the youth in Vermont.”

Royce was born and raised in Winchester, New Hampshire, but lived in Porter, Maine, where she worked as the sports development director for the Maine Sports Commission before moving to Vermont.

Prior to that, she spent a decade working for the University of New Hampshire (UNH) Cooperative Extension 4-H program in Carroll County, including as the healthy living outdoor field specialist. Among the programs she created was the 4-H Wildside Program, designed to get kids and families outdoors.

This outdoor education initiative promotes active healthy lifestyles through hiking, mountain biking, rock-climbing, nature photography, birding and other activities. Royce also served as program manager for New Hampshire’s 4-H Military Teen Adventure Camps.

She graduated from Lyndon State College with a bachelor’s degree in recreation resource management and earned her master’s degree in recreation management and policy from UNH.
