BIO
Edie Rubinowitz is a journalism professor at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) in Chicago. She is the faculty advisor to the student newspaper and her department’s internship coordinator. In her 19 years at NEIU, she created a journalism minor, developed the Solutions Journalism and Community Media courses, and coordinated the school’s partnership with the Telemundo Academy. She received the 2018 ONA Challenge grant to help produce the student podcast, “DACAmentation,” with a local Spanish-language radio station. She was part of the Solutions Journalism Network Educators’ Lab and has presented on Solutions Journalism. Before coming to NEIU, she was an award-winning public radio reporter with Chicago Public Media.
